How Little Paws got started….

I lived in North Carolina at the time and had just arrived there from Germany . My husband and I didn’t know the area at all and were faced with going on a trip and not knowing what to do with our two dogs and our cat. Taking them with wasn’t an option as one of our dogs would rather jump out the car window then to sit quietly and enjoy the ride. We ended up boarding them.

The result was that they all came back home with separation anxiety (and kennel cough). And who’s to blame them. In their minds they probably thought they’d never see us again after that boarding encounter.

So the next time a trip came up we vigorously searched the phone book for an alternative to boarding. We found a local Pet Sitting company. And after we returned home from that trip and seeing how content out pets were plus the house was also checked on we were sold on Pet Sitting versus boarding.

So when we moved to Colorado Springs in 1996 I wanted to offer this wonderful service to other pet owners.

Animals have always been my passion. I’m the kind of person who’ll stop and pull over while driving because there’s a stray dog on the side of the road. I have volunteered for All-Breed Rescue as well as 9-Lives Rescue. My house is like Noah’s Ark….three dogs, five cats, a bunny, dozens of happy fish and a bare-eyed cockatoo. Birds and squirrels also know where to find me when they’re ready for some good food. I always go the extra mile to make sure all animals are taken care of.

That is also my philosophy with Little Paws. My lovely Pet Sitters go through a screening process that includes checking previous employers and running a police report before I hire them. It is extremely important to me that the ladies who work for me have some pets of their own and that they represent Little Paws in a positive, dependable and caring way. Just the way I do. With this in mind, please know that your Pet Sitter, whether it is myself or another Little Paws Pet Sitter, has only your best interest in mind: To love, care for and pamper your pet the same way you would, if you were at home.
